Summary
After 300 years， the gods that imprisoned Senzou the Fox Spirit for his arrogance finally set him free。 There is only one condition -- he can't have any of his supernatural abilities back until he successfully helps a tanuki cub named Manpachi become one of their magical assistants。 Unfortunately for Senzou， there's no cheating when it comes to completing his task！ The magic beads around his neck make sure he can't wander too far from his charge or shirk his duties， and so。。。 Senzou the once-great Fox Spirit must now figure out how to be an actually-great babysitter to a mischievous little tanuki or risk being stuck without his powers forever！

Read more graphic novel reviews at The Graphic Library。Manpachi and Momoji the Badger travel to the mountain where Manpachi was born， but Momoji also knowingly takes Manpachi away from Senzou and endangers him。 When the two get to the mountain， all the creatures are sleeping and covered in snow。 The two are almost immediately attacked by a dormouse in human form， who accused the two of them of disturbing the mountain’s restorative sleep。 Before the dormice can fully attack Manpachi and Momoji， Read more graphic novel reviews at The Graphic Library。Manpachi and Momoji the Badger travel to the mountain where Manpachi was born， but Momoji also knowingly takes Manpachi away from Senzou and endangers him。 When the two get to the mountain， all the creatures are sleeping and covered in snow。 The two are almost immediately attacked by a dormouse in human form， who accused the two of them of disturbing the mountain’s restorative sleep。 Before the dormice can fully attack Manpachi and Momoji， the goddess of the mountain reveals herself and explains why she has put everyone in a sleeping state。 Manpachi give the goddess a kind of pep talk， and she has restored faith in her abilities。 Later， the wolf pack investigates a murder of a cat， and suspects an illegal substance was used to cover rhe murderer’s tracks。 They question Momoji and find out a stash of the substance was stolen from him when the wolves first apprehended him。This volume is slightly confusing as Tagawa lays down the groundwork for several different story threads that don't see resolution quiet yet。 However， the payoff is still worth the confusion， as the animals are extremely adorable and there are some hints at a mystery that readers are going to want to solve if they are enjoying Manpachi as much as I am。 The magical world on their side of the veil is really complex and there are a lot of deities， which make some sense given how much Japanese folklore is steeped in supernatural beings。 This series would benefit from a character chart with their roles and names at the beginning of the story to keep them all straight。Sara's Rating: 9/10Suitability Level: Grades 4-8 。。。more

A continuation of volume one。 If you read that and enjoyed the story， you get more of the same。 Not recommended to start with volume 2 due to it continuing a story arc and ending on a cliffhanger but overall， a good story。 I do wish to read volume 3 but also hope more of the main plot develops。

Le premier tome fut une agréable découverte。 J’avais vraiment beaucoup apprécié ce manga tout mignon， tout agréable à lire。 Ce second tome confirme vraiment mon opinion， ce manga est vraiment génial。 En plus d’être absolument mignon comme tout， c’est également un manga fascinant avec un univers palpitant et des personnages vraiment top à suivre。Dans ce second tome， on va retrouver Manpachi qui s’est énormément attaché à Senzo malgré son hostilité。 Mais Manpachi reste un tanuki très jeune et sa f Le premier tome fut une agréable découverte。 J’avais vraiment beaucoup apprécié ce manga tout mignon， tout agréable à lire。 Ce second tome confirme vraiment mon opinion， ce manga est vraiment génial。 En plus d’être absolument mignon comme tout， c’est également un manga fascinant avec un univers palpitant et des personnages vraiment top à suivre。Dans ce second tome， on va retrouver Manpachi qui s’est énormément attaché à Senzo malgré son hostilité。 Mais Manpachi reste un tanuki très jeune et sa famille lui manque。 Il va tomber sur le blaireau Momoji， un être sournois et vicieux qui va clairement profiter de sa naïveté pour lui jouer un tour dont lui seul à le secret… Mais Senzo arrivera t-il à le sauver à temps？Alors la principale chose que je retiens dans ce second tome， c’est la transformation de Manpachi en humain。 Je crois que c’est la chose la plus mignonne que j’ai pu lire dans ma vie。 C’était vraiment beaucoup trop mignon et j’ai adoré le voir évoluer sous sa forme humaine。 Senzo également d’ailleurs。 Même si je suis étonnée de son apparence， en effet je pensais qu’il serait beaucoup plus vieux alors qu’en fait il a l’apparence d’une adolescent en quelque sorte。 Le lien entre Manpachi et Senzo se renforce de plus en plus。 Et c’est vraiment agréable， Senzo malgré son caractère de cochon， on sent qu’il est énormément attaché à Manpachi même si il ne l’avouera jamais clairement。Ce second tome m’a vraiment beaucoup plu。 De plus， il finit sur un suspense de dingue qui nous donne clairement envie de se jeter sur le troisième tome！ J’ai déjà très hâte de retrouver l’univers et les personnages， j’aime vraiment beaucoup l’univers proposé avec ces metamorphes。 Franchement， vivement le tome 3 et j’espère qu’il sortira dans pas trop longtemps non plus！ 。。。more

2020 Read #596This was an okay volume。 The animals are always cute， but sometimes it’s hard to remember who’s who。 There really is no overarching story， so that lessens the attachment to the series for me。
